The most secure connection you can get from a butt splice for the harshest of environments First, crimp the terminal at each end to hold it in place. Next a heat shrink connection that also has an internal sealant glues the wires in place after heat is applied. At the same time, you'll also melt a small amount of solder at each end that makes the connection as secure as possible. Also keeps moisture out while ensuring your wires do not pull out of the terminal. Butt splice terminals are used to connect two wires together. A crimp is required on each end, along with heat.
