Flames of War: Late War: German: Sd Kfz 250 Half-Track Transport (GBX129)

The light reconnaissance company is organised along the same lines as a panzergrenadier company. The biggest difference is that they are mounted in the smaller Sd Kfz 250 halftrack. While this is often small enough to avoid detection, they need nearly twice as many of them. If they do get into a full-on fight, this can prove to be a blessing as the Sd Kfz 250 half-track is as heavily armed as the panzergrenadiers’ bigger Sd Kfz 251, meaning that they have nearly twice the firepower. Although faster than its bigger cousin, the Sd Kfz 250 has a much shorter wheelbase, limiting its ability to cross obstacles. The smaller size and greater speed of the Sd Kfz 250 makes it much easier to conceal and ideal for reconnaissance operations.
