Drying agents are employed to remove water and facilitate reversible or irreversible chemical or physical bonds. The primary drying agents can be categorized into four groups: non-regenerable chemical drying agents, regenerable chemical drying agents, silica gels, and molecular sieves. Silica gels safeguard moisture-sensitive goods or chemicals during transport and storage, suiting the drying of nearly all gases and solids. They offer versatile usage in laboratories, technical education, and industries: in laboratory applications like desiccators, drying towers, and absorption tubes; and in industrial settings, primarily in drying systems and various packaging types. They are unsuitable for liquid and alkaline substance drying. To achieve low residual water content on silica gel, partial capacity usage is possible. The drier the silica gel, the more effectively it dries. For instance, to achieve a 1 mg/l residual water content, the water load should not exceed 5.2 g per 100 g of silica gel.
